| | The DMV Taking Our Money | | What does your states drivers license look like? How recently has the state changed it's appearance? How much does it cost to renew or replace it where you live?
Well let me tell you, I just had a birthday in March, and this was the year to renew. That cost me $24.90. And in less than six months I lost it while moving. So, I had to get it replaced and guess what? Yep, another $24.90. I can't believe it, I just gave them $50 for my license. However, if you lose your state ID it only costs $7.90 to replace it. Call me crazy, but does that sound wrong? I mean it's being printed on the same type of plastic, in the same machine, in the same location, so what's with the price hike?
Now, in Febuary my boyfriend was due to get his license renewed and his looked different than mine. So apparently there had been some money spent by the state to change the look of this much needed card. So, having lost mine in July, and stalling to give them another $24.90, in hopes of finding the one I just bought in March, I go without my drivers license until September 11th. | | Renewing my drivers license.. | | I went to cash a check at the bank yesterday and the teller let me know that I had 2 days before my driver license expires. So after all the cleaning and helping my neighbor yesterday and then raking leaves today and the play tonight, I couldn't go to renew until tomorrow morning, the day it expires..I hate getting my license renewed, my picture never looks right, even when I take a long time to prepare and I am always afraid I will fail the eye test and then I would have to not only take the driving test again, but also get a check up from the eye doctor..But so far the only draw back I have had is the bad picture.So tomorrow morning, instead of visiting mylot. I will be preparing to look as good as possible to get my picture taken and hopefully get my licens erenewed with no problems..Do you end up renewing at the last minute? Do you go to extremes to look as good as possible for the picture or do you not even care? And do you fear not passing the eye exam? Have you had to take the driving test over again because of either failing the eye exam or going past the expiration date? I really don't want to take the driving test, the person in charge is not nice at all..:( | |
| | Have you tried the new Cheesy Double Beef Burritos at Taco Bell? | | Since Taco Bell changed the way it seasons its meat (wetter, a bit more chili powder), I haven't eaten there as much. I can't say that I like the new wet meat mix they use. But, I was hungry yesterday after getting my driver's license renewed and shopping for some things for Mom, and didn't want the same old thing, so I went to Taco Bell.Well, the first thing that caught my eye was on their value menu - Cheesy Double Beef Burrito $.89. Nice - loads of cheese, beef and rice in a flour tortilla. Sounds good. So, that's what I got. Let me tell you - I was very impressed. Not so much with the service since I ordered and paid for TWO but only got ONE, but that one was actually VERY good. I would be willing to return for another - definitely.[em]thumbup[/em]Have you tried these? Do you have a favorite item at Taco Bell? Do you like the changes they've made in their meat blend?? Here, our phone book is about 6 inches thick, and mostly useful for smashing bugs!:) I have a whole stockpile in the closet, I never know what to do with the old ones. They do have recycle places for them, but who wants to drive 60 miles to recycle them? If you put them in a garbage sack for the trash collector, you get a little note that says "too heavy for pickup". One thing the phone companies make sure they do is send you plenty of phone books! We have doubles of all of them, their are different companies, and separate ones for just yellow pages.Try to find any subject in them. Allow at least 3 hours per subject. To me, it makes no sense to say "see something else" if you wanted "something else" you would have looked it up first, right?:)Yesterday, my husband had to get his drivers license renewed. Since we are fairly new to this area, I get out the phone book. I thought start with "Drivers Licence", I found it in the "D" section, right off! It said "see government", so I went to "Government", it said "see Federal, State, or County Government". Ok well where is Drivers' license? Finally I went to... | |
| | I'd like some 8 by 10s of that, please! | | I know what photo I will NOT be using as my avatar. Today I went to get my driver's license renewed with a new photo. My old ID photo didn't look like me and I didn't like it. The new one is worse- it does look like me.At first I thought it was just a bad photo, but then it hit me. That's what I really look like! My neighbor told me she just got a new one and it was a good picture. I told her that if they find out about it, they will make her have it taken over.Do they ever look at the picture they have just taken and say, "Yikes!! We'd better try that one again."
