myLot Discussions on Roger Moore as James Bond| Best Bond | | Who in your opinion was the best James Bond on film? When I was growing up to me Roger Moore WAS James Bond as he was in the latest films. Howver, now I have watched them all it is difficult to choose.Sean Connery is pretty iconic, George Lazenby did OK but had one of THE best Bond movies, Timothy Dalton was brilliant but not in enough and Pierce Brosnan brought the character up to date.AS for Daniel Craig, I love him and think he is a great actor, but he does not work for me as Bond, which was very disappointing.
| | Family Tradition Based on a Movie? | | I know this sounds weird, but do you have some sort family tradition based on a movie character or an entire media series? One of my family's tradition has to do with you none other than James Bond. Me eldest brother was a huge fan of Sean Connery, so he bought the watch Sean wore in the original moives, the Rolex submariner. Back in the late 60's.
Then my second eldest Brother prefered Roger Moore as James Bond so he bought the version Roger wore when he did James Bond in the early 70's.
Both of them passed the watches to their sons, to the promise that they, in turn will pass them on to their own children.
Continuing this newly found family tradition, Pierce Brosnan was the Bond of my generation, so I bought the watch Pierce wore in GoldenEye, back in 1995. And then the one Daniel Craig wore in Casino Royale, cuase I liked Dan Better heheh...The blue Omega seamaster in 2007.
The only difference is, I don't have any children to pass the watches to. LOL!!I also developed a new tradition, but it couldn't last forever. The STARWARS tradidtion. Back in 1997 me and some nephews made an oath that when George Lucas released the, then new, STARWARS...
| | Brand Bond | | Its one of the most enduring film franchises ever.
The name's Bond James Bond. Given that this is one of the most recognisable qoutes in the world, and that the film franchise based on Ian Fleming's books can compete with Star wars as one of the most successful ever, one might also conclude the name's brand, OO7 brand. It's survived a lot changes in lead actor starting from Sean Connery in Dr No (1962) to Daniel craig in Casino Royale currently playing, and its taken huge liberties with the original Fleming's novels. the secret of its enduring popularity is how well it has adapted to the half a century of rapid geopolitical and social change. fleming was prescient when he changed the name of Bond's principal antagonist from SMERSH a Soviet spy agency to SPECTRE, a purely mercenary organisation for terrorism and extortion with no particular ideological affinities. That anticipates the end of Cold War, a movement that's also evident in the films. While From russia With Love(1963) revolves around SMERSH, The Spy Who Loved Me(1977) features Roger Moore as James Bond taking on the baddies along with a comely female Soviet agent played by Barbara Bach, heralding a new era of Anglo...
| | Who was your favorite James Bond? | | A BOND THAT KEEPS GROWING
Mine is Sean Connery, and Roger Moore
Bond, James Bond… Does the man with the golden gun really need an introduction? No fictional character is better recognised the world over than James Bond, Secret Agent 007.
Licensed to kill, primed to thrill, Ian Fleming’s spy has a fan following that cuts across all boundaries of age, gender and nationality. The longest-running and highest-grossing franchise ever in the history of cinema, the James Bond films have ruled the global box office for all of four decades since the release of Dr. No in 1962.
The actors who have played Bond on screen have passed into folklore, although all the five haven’t had the same level of success. Sean Connery has played innumerable wonderful characters before and after James Bond, but his name continues to be associated with the invincible superhero, a figure he stopped essaying after 1971’s Diamonds Are Forever.
What really is the secret of Bond’s phenomenal success and longevity? The answer is pretty obvious: the spy who came in from the cold of Ian Fleming’s imagination around the middle of the last century is remarkably flexible. He has changed with the times and has...
| | roger moore | | Roger Moore was superb as Leslie Charteris'"The Saint"
on television and equally good on the big screen as
James Bond.Apart from seeing him on several other films in the past, I have not seen him since.Has he perhaps gone into retirement?
| | Roger Moore | | I consider Roger Moore to be the very best 007 ever. With his pure English accent, gentlemanly manner and suave personality,he is the epitomy of what James Bond would have been like had been a real person.I do like Sean Connery and the other Bonds and I have watched most of them, but I will always regard Roger Moore as the best.after 1971’s Diamonds Are Forever.
What really is the secret of Bond’s phenomenal success and longevity? The answer is pretty obvious: the spy who came in from the cold of Ian Fleming’s imagination around the middle of the last century is remarkably flexible. He has changed with the times and has yet remained the same.
It is this fascinating dichotomy that has enabled James Bond to keep pace with changing fads even as he has remained true to the essence of the man he was always meant to be as a larger-than-life screen character: predatory, promiscuous and blessed with an instinct for survival that few characters can match. The Bond of Fleming’s books a very different kettle of fish: he’s a gritty, fallible and humourless workaholic wedded to his mission. On the screen, he assumes the persona of an icon: colourful,...
| | | James Bond? Which of the six 007 actors get's your vote? | | Since'Dr No' was released in 1962, there have been 22 James Bond films with six different actors playing the famous spy.Sean Connery
George Lazenby
Roger Moore
Timothy Dalton
Pierce Brosnan
Daniel CraigTo me, probally as I was around at the offset of these films in the 60's, there is only poneREAL James Bond - the inimitable Sean Connery.[em]cheering[/em]I thought he had the charisma, the looks (back in the day) and more especially the humour that Fleming's character needed.I thought the worst of all the actors was George Lazenby, I could never accept Moore as Bond - to me heWAS'The Saint'Yes Craig had a nice bum in the last film but give me Sean anyday!![em]whistle[/em]What do you think?[em]whistle[/em]
| | Who's the best bond? | | There is not a single soul in this world who don't like bond movies. Some like it for its style, its heros, its sets, its gadgets, the bond girls, bond cars etc., Time has seen various actors adorn the Bond character like Sean Connery,George Lazenby, roger Moore, timothy dalton,Pierce Brosnan,Daniel Craig. My all time favourite is Pierce; he's apt for the role, like for his chill attitude, his panache. who's your favourite bond and for what reason do you think he's the best Bond? | |
